A practical walkthrough for Pac-Man is less about rote steps and more about principles you apply each maze: secure a reliable clearance route; keep one escape corridor; time energy pellet usage for clusters of ghosts; and prioritise fruit windows when enemy traffic is low. At the start of a match, establish a conservative sweep that leaves you room to react; that safety baseline is what allows you to take controlled risks later.
Early stages
In the opening levels, practise consistent pellet routes: don’t chase every bonus; instead, perfect a route that clears the maze without exposing yourself to multi-ghost traps. Learn how tunnels change pursuit angles and when to cut across open areas to split ghost movement.
Mid game
As speed and ghost coordination increase, keep a fallback lane and use power pellets to convert pressure into point windows. If ghosts bunch, trigger the pellet and capitalise on the temporary safety to scoop fruit or clear a difficult cluster.
Advanced tricks
Later stages require puppet-mastering ghosts: manipulate their heading by feints, use tunnel exits to change their spacing, and force heavy ghosts into chokepoints where they are easier to avoid. These small manipulations are the difference between a steady run and a high-score session.
